You are purchasing a brand new Flutter and Speed Test Tape Four Frequency Calibration Tape from Magnetic Reference Laboratory (MRL).

This tape contains a recording of a 3150-Hz sine wave, for use in measuring weighted peak flutter and tape speed

The tape is 1/2" on a 10.5 metal reel.

The speed is 15 IPS.

Wtd. Pk. Flutter: ±0.03 %

The tape is 4 minutes long.

The Equalization is IEC (IEC1) & NAB Standard.

This listing is for the MRL part number:

341-570-480-103

RECORDED LEVEL AND EQUALIZATION: Since the recorded level and equalization on the tape are not important for flutter and speed measurements, only one recording is available for each tape width and speed:

250 nWb/m relative to the IEC1 equalization.

2 SPEED MEASUREMENT: The IEC Standard 60 094-3 [8] recommends measuring the "tape speed" by reproducing a recording of an accurately recorded wavelength. When MRL records the Flutter and Speed Test Tape, the recorded wavelength is ±0.1 % of the true value with a tape tension into the head assembly of 0.8 newtons (N) for 6.3 mm tape width (1 newton = 3.6 ounces = 100 grams-force); 1.3 N for 12.5 mm width; 2 N for 25 mm width; or 3 N for 50 mm width; and a tension increase at the reproducing head of about 25 % due to the friction of the tape over the other heads and guides.

In case you need to measure the flutter of a transport that has extraordinarily low flutter, you will not be able to use this MRL Flutter and Speed Test Tape.

This alignment tape is custom recorded on RTM SM911 by MRL.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU WANT SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT IS MENTIONED ABOVE!

For Alignment tapes, aka calibration or reference tapes tape there are other tapes that can be purchased from us. Message us on eBay for questions and details about those tapes:

Alignment tapes, aka calibration or reference tapes, are required to properly set play back on any given tape deck. The alignment tape contains various signals, and array of frequencies, that let the operator setup a tape deck for playback prior to record alignment. We are an authorized dealer of MRL Tapes, which are very reliable. Please consult our resident experts if you have a question as to what alignment tape you should be using for your deck.

Handling time is generally 2 or 3 days, but may be 5 at the most.

There are no returns as each tape is custom made with exception of replacement for defect.
